Our specialties highlight the client experiences we are best equipped to support.

They reflect our worldview, education, interests, and areas of expertise, while recognizing that every client’s needs are unique. While we do work with a broad range of concerns, these specialty areas call attention to communities and experiences that are often overlooked in general therapy, providing care that meets clients where they are and supports meaningful growth.

Grief & Loss

Loss isn't limited to death. If you're seeking therapy, it's highly probable that some form of loss has affected you. Loss can be isolating, complex, and deeply influenced by culture. We offer support that respects your unique experience, guiding you through grief in a way that integrates your lifestyle, cultural background, personal values, and emotional needs. Our approach focuses on empathy, validation, and practical tools to help you manage daily tasks and emotions as you adjust to a new normal.

Queer Mental Health

Queer identity can present unique challenges, including stigma, discrimination, and navigating identity within family and community contexts. We provide a specialized approach that addresses all aspects of a client's intersecting identities, such as race, gender, and sexual orientation. This moves beyond general queer mental health practice, demanding a deep understanding and respect for the unique lived experiences that arise specifically from the combination of these identities. Our core goal is to ensure that clients feel thoroughly seen and understood within their specific, multi-layered contexts.

Substance Use Support

Substance use often intersects with trauma, stress, and systemic pressures. Our clinicians provide compassionate, nonjudgmental support, helping clients understand underlying factors, develop sustainable coping strategies, and navigate recovery in ways that respect their personal context.

Life Transition Support

Major life changes are a source of both excitement and stress for adults, whether they involve career shifts, relocations, or family transitions. Young people experience similar feelings during academic transitions, shifts in friendships, and the journey of self-discovery. We guide clients through these transitions by offering strategies and support that align with their values, help manage emotional challenges, and foster personal growth while maintaining balance in their relationships and responsibilities.

Mental Health Coaching

Mental health coaching is an action-oriented partnership that helps you identify your goals, overcome obstacles, and develop practical strategies for personal growth. It emphasizes your present and future aspirations, providing guidance to manage stress, improve relationships, challenge negative thinking, and build resilience.

Coaching is distinct from therapy. While therapy often explores past experiences to address mental health conditions, coaching is goal-focused and does not diagnose or treat disorders. Instead, it equips you with tools and support to achieve specific outcomes and enhance your overall well-being.

If at any point it becomes clear that clinical assessment or treatment is needed, we are happy to connect you with appropriately licensed professionals within Eye In Me’s network or externally.

Youth Peer Coaching (Ages 13–18)

Youth Peer Coaching supports young people ages 13–18 as they navigate school, relationships, and personal growth. This program is led by trained undergraduate interns under the supervision of a licensed senior practitioner, providing a safe and supportive space to explore goals, develop skills, and build confidence.

This program is not therapy. Peer coaching focuses on empowerment, practical strategies, and skill-building rather than clinical diagnosis or treatment. Coaches work alongside youth to help them manage stress, strengthen communication, and develop resilience, fostering agency and self-discovery.

If at any point a need for clinical care arises, participants are referred to licensed professionals within Eye In Me’s network for appropriate support.

The program served as a powerful validation for the work I had already accomplished in building my practice. It provided additional information and guidance for the next steps, complementing what I had already learned. The program helped me realize my own progress. The process helped me recognize that I’ve successfully navigated much of this journey, and it highlighted areas where I can further refine and set goals. Overall, a valuable and insightful growth experience.

The PP Doula program has been incredibly helpful for my private practice journey. When I first started, I was feeling overwhelmed by all the logistics of starting my own business. Shatiea did a wonderful job of breaking everything down into manageable steps and providing ongoing support. Shatiea’s flexibility and compassion made all the difference during a difficult personal time. I would highly recommend this program to any therapist looking to start their private practice. It was well worth the investment and I feel grateful for the community and resources Shatiea provided.
