Our Insurance Philosophy
Breaking the Surveillance Loop
"When the system owns your data, it owns your personhood." Historically, data has been used to justify exclusion. Today, insurance databases pathologize life. When you pay cash, your "data trail" stops at our door. Your breakthroughs are not uploaded to a server used to hike future premiums or deny coverage.Resisting the Diagnosis Mandate
To get insurance to pay, a provider must give you a diagnosis. That label stays on your permanent Medical Information Bureau (MIB) record. Private pay allows you to seek support for life transitions or stress from licensed and qualified professionals without requiring pathology that follows you forever.... especially if you are having a normal response to a sick environment.
Cooperative Economics
The current insurance system forces therapists to overbook to survive low reimbursement rates and unpaid administrative hours. This can lead to burnout and lower the quality of care. Our model is an act of self-defense or healthy offense for both the therapist and the client. We are an extension of your community and we don't need insurance companies to mediate or moderate our relationship with you.The Investment
We recognize that the automatic reflex is to look for "In-Network" care. For many, insurance is a necessary safety net for catastrophic health events. However, we view mental health as a preventative, lifelong investment in personhood—much like the other professional services you prioritize to maintain your well-being, community connection, and image.
Our Choice is Intentional.
We operate as an Out-of-Network practice because we prioritize a Win-Win Model:

For the Clinician:
Fair compensation and a sustainable pace, ensuring they can provide the high-level, specialized care you expect.
For the Community:
A practice rooted in Cooperative Economics. We are an extension of your community—we are in relationship with you, not a for-profit corporation. The Bottom Line:
We don't participate in the "middleman" system because it treats clients like claim numbers and therapists like line items. Once again, because we mean it, we choose a direct relationship with you.
The program served as a powerful validation for the work I had already accomplished in building my practice. It provided additional information and guidance for the next steps, complementing what I had already learned. The program helped me realize my own progress. The process helped me recognize that I’ve successfully navigated much of this journey, and it highlighted areas where I can further refine and set goals. Overall, a valuable and insightful growth experience.

Healing Matters, LLC
I’m so grateful for my experience in Eye In Me’s PP Doula Program. When I first started, I knew I wanted to start my own private practice but felt overwhelmed by all the steps involved. Shatiea provided such a supportive community where we could learn from each other. Her flexibility and availability to meet one-on-one was so helpful when I had specific questions. The program gave me the confidence to take the leap and leave my job to focus fully on my business.

Conscious Reflections Therapy
The PP Doula program has been incredibly helpful for my private practice journey. When I first started, I was feeling overwhelmed by all the logistics of starting my own business. Shatiea did a wonderful job of breaking everything down into manageable steps and providing ongoing support. Shatiea’s flexibility and compassion made all the difference during a difficult personal time. I would highly recommend this program to any therapist looking to start their private practice. It was well worth the investment and I feel grateful for the community and resources Shatiea provided.
